Maharashtra Sugar Mill Blast: Boiler has exploded in the factory in Shev village of Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra. A boiler suddenly exploded in the distillery unit of Gangamai Sugar Mill on Saturday (25 February) night. Due to this a fierce fire broke out there. During this, 6 laborers were injured. Out of these, 2 laborers are reported to have been seriously injured, the rest have been evacuated safely. After the information of the accident, the fire brigade and ambulance reached there. Rescue and relief work is going on in the factory. Efforts to extinguish the fire are also going on continuously.
6 laborers injured in the accident
The fire broke out in the Gangamai Sugar Mill around 7:00 pm. In fact, there was a sudden blast in the boiler of the distillery unit of this sugar mill and after that the entire factory caught fire. The first explosion took place in the ethanol unit and then the fire broke out from there. Ethanol is made from sugarcane juice, sugar solution, barley, maize in the distillery plant.
Actually, this accident became so big because due to the explosion of the boiler, the chemical filled tanks kept there caught fire. In no time, the flames became so fierce that they were easily visible from a distance of 3 kilometers.
Around 150 laborers were working as usual in the factory during the blast. All the laborers came out as soon as the accident happened, but during this time 6 laborers were badly injured. He has been admitted to the nearest hospital. The information about this accident was immediately given to the fire department.
Efforts to control the fire continue
As soon as the information about the accident was received, fire brigade vehicles reached the spot at 10 to 12 and efforts are still on to control the fire. An ambulance has also reached the spot. According to news agency PTI, a police official said that fire brigade and police personnel have so far rescued 32 people from the factory.
