Sudan Violence: In violence-hit Sudan, 17 people, including five children, were killed in an airstrike in southern Khartoum on Saturday (June 17). Sudanese health officials gave this information. Regarding the incident, the health department of Sudan’s capital wrote in a post on the social media platform Facebook that 17 people, including five children, were killed in an airstrike in Yarmouk district, while 25 houses were damaged.
Earlier it was reported that 71 children have died due to hunger and disease since April in an orphanage in Sudan. After which at least 300 children from the orphanage were taken to safer places. Significantly, the conflict between the army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Force in Sudan has been going on since April 15.

On Friday (June 16) itself, the United States and the United Nations said that the situation in Sudan’s West Darfur region could worsen. Significantly, as the violent conflict in Sudan has entered the third month, the humanitarian situation is continuously deteriorating across the country. UN relief chief Martin Griffiths also agreed with this.

According to the UN report, 1.7 million people are now internally displaced, while about 5 million people have sought refuge outside Sudan. Along with this, the looting of medical and humanitarian assets in Sudan continues on a large scale. Farmers are unable to access their land, increasing the risk of food insecurity and increasing reports of gender-based violence.
At least 958 people have been killed, while 4,746 others have been injured since clashes between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces first began on April 15, according to information provided by the Sudanese Doctors’ Union.
