Manish Sisodia Arrested By CBI: Before the arrest of Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, the CBI has been in action against him several times. For about 6-7 months, the CBI was continuously tightening its noose on Sisodia. On 19 August 2022, the CBI raided his house for the first time. This action lasted for about 5 to 6 hours. Then he himself told that ‘CBI has come to his house’. He is welcome. We are brutally honest. Making the future of lakhs of children’.

After this, on 30 August 2022, Sisodia’s bank locker was searched. The CBI team conducted searches in the presence of Sisodia and his wife in PNB Bank of Mewar College, Vasundhara, Ghaziabad. However, he had claimed after the search that the CBI did not find anything from his locker. He taunted that his family is clean in the Prime Minister’s investigation.

Sisodia’s name was not in CBI’s charge sheet

The CBI’s charge sheet came out in the case on 25 November 2022. Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was not named in the charge sheet. However, seven people were made accused in this. Then Sisodia had said that it is clear from the charge sheet that there was no liquor scam at all. BJP has harassed and maligned in the name of liquor scam. Along with this, he also raised the demand for action against the LG of Delhi. Because in this case LG Vinay Saxena had recommended a CBI inquiry.

Sisodia sought time from CBI on February 19

The matter seemed to be settling down when the CBI issued summons to Sisodia for questioning on 19 February 2023. Citing the Delhi budget on this, Sisodia asked for time and said to call anytime at the end of February. He has now been arrested in the case on the last day i.e. 26 February 2023 after about 8 hours of questioning. All your leaders and workers are attacking the Center against this. Today you will also hold a nationwide protest.

How many sections have been imposed on Sisodia?

  • Section 7 (Prevention of Corruption Act). There is a minimum punishment of 3 years, a maximum of 7 years in jail and fine.
  • Action will be taken under section IPC 120 B (criminal conspiracy). Its punishment can be 6 months in jail / fine or both.
  • Action will also be taken against Sisodia under IPC 477 A (intent to cheat). In this, there is a provision of punishment of 7 years in jail/fine or both.
