O Panneerselvam Mother Demise: Palaniammal Nachiyar, the mother of former chief minister and ousted AIADMK leader O Panneerselvam (OPS), passed away on Friday (February 24) in Theni district of Tamil Nadu. News agency PTI quoted sources as saying that OPC’s mother died due to old age. She was 95 years old.
Sources close to the family said that Palaniammal breathed his last at Periyakulam in the district late evening. O Panneerselvam left for home from Chennai after getting the news of his mother’s demise as he had reached there for a press conference earlier in the day. Family sources told that the last rites of the OPS’s mother’s body will be performed on Saturday (February 25).
Panneerselvam said this in the press conference
Earlier, O Panneerselvam held a press conference regarding the decision of the Supreme Court. He said the Supreme Court verdict allowing Edappadi K Palaniswami to continue as the interim chief of the party did not deter him. He said that he will go to the people and seek justice.
In his first official reaction to the apex court’s decision, Panneerselvam said that any decision is not a setback for him. Talking to reporters, he said, “After this decision, our party workers are more excited.”
‘The religious war continues’
Panneerselvam also wrote a letter to the Election Commission requesting it not to make any changes in party rules and hierarchy on the basis of ‘illegal resolutions’ dated July 11, 2022. He said that he would file a civil suit in this regard.
Panneerselvam, popularly known as OPS, said that the ‘religious war’ is going on. He said that he and his supporters would go to the people to demand justice. The outreach campaign will start soon and will be organized district-wise across the state. He said, “We will seek justice by standing on the side of religion.”
