Balochistan Gunmen Killed: Unidentified gunmen attacked a coal mine in Pakistan’s Balochistan on Monday (27 February) and killed at least four miners. Three others were injured in the attack in Khost area of Harnai district of Balochistan.
Officials told news agency PTI that the attack was carried out by terrorists affiliated with insurgent groups. In recent months, insurgents and militants affiliated with the Islamic State (IS) and the Pakistani Taliban (TTP) have stepped up attacks in the province.
Chief Minister of Balochistan condemned
Unidentified armed men stormed the mine on Monday morning and opened fire on the miners and set fire to 11 coal mines. The injured miners have been admitted to the district headquarters hospital in Harnai. Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo strongly condemned the terrorist incident. He also expressed condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the departed souls.
Yesterday also i.e. on Sunday (February 26), there was a bomb blast in the market of Balochistan, in which 4 people died and 10 were injured. The blast took place due to the explosion of an improvised explosive device (ID) attached to a motorcycle in Rakhani Bazar area.
Has been kidnapped before
According to PTI, the Balochistan levy force has cordoned off the area and search is on for the suspects. At least 11 workers were abducted from a coal mine in the Mach region of Pakistan’s Balochistan province in 2021 and later killed by separatists. In the same year, four workers working in a coal mine were abducted and later murdered in the Harnak mine area near Quetta.
