Imran Khan said on Friday (March 3) that he is ready to talk to the Army Chief for the betterment of the country. Please tell that General Asim Munir is now the Chief of the Pakistani Army. Before him was General Bajwa, who has retired.
There was a time when Bajwa was made the army chief by Imran, both had faith in each other. However, later the distance between the two increased and at the behest of Bajwa, Imran was ousted from power by the opposition parties of Pakistan.
PTI chief’s tone has changed
Due to this, there was bitterness between Imran and Bajwa i.e. Pakistani Army. After snatching the Prime Minister’s chair, Imran made several sharp statements against Bajwa and the Pakistan Army. However, now Imran’s intentions are changing. Imran has talked about meeting the current Army Chief of Pakistan, General Asim Munir.
In a press conference at his Zaman Park residence in Lahore, Imran said, “I am ready to talk to the army chief for the good of the country. I don’t have any issue with him”.
However, Imran’s statement is a stark departure from his earlier statements about his relationship with the army, his frustration with retired army chief Qamar Javed Bajwa, and not coming to Islamabad for court hearings. .
Imran’s recent remarks came hours after Pakistan’s President Arif Alvi announced April 30 as the date for elections in Punjab.
Asked why he was not talking to the “Establishment (Pakistani military leadership)”, Imran said that we never had a fight with them, and it was only General Bajwa who “stabbed me in the back”.
‘It was Bajwa who backstabbed me’
Imran said that even after losing his government, he spoke to General Bajwa for the betterment of the country. “But it was General Bajwa who wanted to crush me”. He said, “But if someone thinks that I will bend the knee, it cannot happen.”
Repeated Bajwa’s demand for court martial
Imran also criticized General Bajwa for “giving a speech against Russia” and demanded that he be “court martialed for this speech”.
‘No one is ready to talk, what should I do’
Imran said, “I am still ready to talk to the government – for the betterment of the country – but if no one is ready to talk, what can I do?”
