Karti Chidambaram on EVM: On the issue of EVM, Congress MP Karti Chidambaram has given a statement different from his party’s stand. He has expressed confidence in EVM by moving away from the party line.
Karti Chidambaram said on Saturday (February 25), “I know my party and I have a different view on this subject. I can’t speak for the party, but this is my personal view and I trust EVMs. We He also won the elections where votes were cast through EVMs.”
Calling the EVM a “standalone machine”, the Congress leader said he “fully believes” in its efficiency. The Congress MP told reporters, “In my personal opinion, EVM is a strong machine. It is a standalone machine. It does not work on a network. I fully believe in efficacy and I have complete faith in EVMs.” .”
Congress will make an agreement with the parties
Explain that during the plenary session in Raipur, the Congress passed a 58-point political resolution on elections, electoral bonds, EVMs, and statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, along with other issues. In its resolution, the Congress said that the party would build a broad consensus with all like-minded parties before taking up the ‘EVM issue’ with the Election Commission.
In a statement, the party said, “More than 14 recognized political parties, several eminent activists, and computer scientists have raised concerns about the efficacy of EVMs with the Election Commission, but no response has been received so far. Promised to restore voter’s confidence. Congress will form widest possible consensus with all like-minded political parties to take up this issue with ECI.”
