Male whales love like this in the middle of the sea, they sing songs to woo the female

Male Whales Singing To Attract Love: You must have often seen in films that when the hero has to woo the heroine, he sings, but this happens not only in movies but also in the sea. Whale, the largest animal of the sea, also does the same. In the east coast of Australia, male whales use song-like melodies to woo their mates. Associate Professor Rebecca Dunlop, from The University of Queensland’s Faculty of Biological Sciences, said that in 1997 singing male whales were almost twice as likely to be seen trying to reproduce with a female than non-singing males.

Dr Dunlap said that by the year 2015 it had become flippy, with non-singing whale males almost five times more likely to be recorded than singing whale males. Researchers believe that this change has happened gradually as the population has recovered after the widespread whaling of the 1960s. “Singing was the dominant mating strategy in 1997, but within seven years this has changed,” Dunlap said, adding that it will be fascinating to see however, how whale mating behavior shapes up in the future.

The whale population has increased from 3,700 whales to 27,000.
Dunlap’s co-author and associate professor Celine Frere said the study found that the whale population had increased from about 3,700 whales to 27,000 between 1997 and 2015. Dr Frere said that changes in whale social dynamics could lead to changes in their mating behaviour. “We tested whether whales may be less likely to use singing as a mating strategy as their population increases,” he said.
