UP Agriculture Budget 2023: The budget for 2023-24 has been presented in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly. It has been described as the biggest budget in the state so far. In this, the government has made a provision of 7 lakh crores for the development-expansion and all the projects in the state. Presenting the new budget of UP, the state’s Finance Minister first made several important announcements for the agriculture sector, in which announcements were made from the Farmers Pension Scheme to the promotion of Agritech Start. During this, many important announcements were also made to take forward the animal husbandry, irrigation, agricultural education and research, milk development and fisheries sector in the state.
First of all, there was talk of agriculture sector.
Presenting the first budget of Amritkal, UP Finance Minister Sures Kumar Khanna threw light on the development and expansion of agriculture sector in the state. He told that 188.40 lakh hectares of land is cultivable in the state. Apart from being an agricultural state, it is also the center of sugarcane, sugar and ethanol production. UP has now occupied the first place even in the case of transfer of money through DBT to the farmers’ accounts of the state. In this episode, a budget of 7,248 crore has been proposed under the Kisan Pension Scheme.
Important announcements for animal husbandry
In the new budget of Uttar Pradesh, there was a special focus on the animal husbandry sector. This time a provision has been made to spend Rs 750 crore for the maintenance of stray cattle. For this, big cow protection centers will be set up in the state at a cost of 120 crores. Apart from this, a provision of 116.52 crores is proposed for animal disease control. A budget of 3.44 crores has been proposed under the sheep rearing scheme in the districts having high population of sheep in the state.
Promotion of agricultural education and research
Special announcements were also made for agricultural education and research in UP’s new budget 2023-24. A budget of 20 crores has been arranged for the operation of Agritech startup scheme in 4 agricultural universities in the state. In this, there is a plan to establish Mahatma Buddha Agricultural and Technological University, Kushinagar with a budget of 50 crores. Apart from this, a budget provision of 35 crores has been made for related works in Kanpur, Ayodhya, Meerut and Banda. In the budget of UP, it has been announced to organize “The Million Farmers School” program so that farmers can be trained in new techniques and advanced farming. in this episode year 202317,000 Kisan Pathshalas will also be organized in -24.
This is how the agriculture sector of UP will develop
In the agriculture budget of UP, for the first time, a budget of 631.93 crores has been arranged for the National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture scheme. No. There is a plan to promote natural farming with a budget of 113.52 crores for the National Mission on Agriculture Farming Scheme. Electricity will be supplied at subsidized rates for the operation of private tube wells of farmers in the state. An arrangement of 1,950 crores is proposed for this work. Under the National Agriculture Development Scheme, a provision of 984.54 crores and a budget of 753.70 crores has been announced for the National Crop Insurance Scheme. To make farmers self-reliant, a budget of Rs 100 crore has been included under the Farmers Integrated Scheme.
This time focus on irrigation projects
UP Finance Minister Suresh Khanna has announced a budget of Rs 2,516 crore for irrigation and other projects. Rs 5332.50 lakh will be spent for the main irrigation project, Rs 2220.20 lakh for medium irrigation project and Rs 3400 crore for minor irrigation projects in the state.
Promotion of wholesale fish market and milk production
UP has always been the hub of milk production. Fish farming is also being promoted in the state. For the generation of additional income, farmers are being motivated to do fish farming by making ponds in the fields. The government also gives grants for this. Fish production has already increased in the state, but now ending the concern of its marketing, the government has announced to open a whole sale fish market. For this, there is a provision of spending Rs 257.50 lakh under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana.
At the same time, to increase milk production, the existing milk unions will be strengthened and revived, for which 86.95 crores will be spent under the scheme. An arrangement of 60 crores is proposed for dairy projects in Varanasi and Meerut. There is a proposal to arrange a budget of 61.21 crores for the implementation of Nand Baba Milk Mission.
