Later, the police had registered an FIR on the complaint of Varinder Singh, in which Toofan Singh was also named. The police arrested Toofan Singh and produced him in the court and took his police remand.

After being released from the court, Toofan Singh said, “I was picked up illegally by the police. I was in my house and I was not even allowed to tie a turban on my head. The kidnapping incident that is being talked about, I was in Bathinda at that time. Its evidence has been given to the police.
