But with the help of a telescope, Jardano Bruno used to watch the moon and stars throughout the night and calculate their speed.
For a long time, Bruno was calculating the speed of the earth by looking at the moon-stars and the sun through a telescope. At last he understood that whatever has been said so far about the planets and constellations is not true. Bruno found from his calculations that the Earth is not the center of space, nor is the Earth flat.
The Earth is revolving around the Sun and the Moon is revolving around the Earth. For this reason there are day and night on the earth and there are changes in the weather too. Sun is a star, Earth is a planet and Moon is a satellite of Earth. In his calculations and research, Bruno had discovered many such things and he was also secretly writing them down.
Nicolaus Copernicus had also discovered the planet-constellation before Bruno
When Giordano Bruno was 15 years old, he got hold of a book by the astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus, in which Copernicus had calculated the constellations in a similar way. But his book was banned in Catholic Rome. It was only after reading the book of Copernicus that Bruno became interested in astronomy and mathematics.
Bruno was burnt alive for following the path of science
Jordano Bruno also found the principles of Copernicus to be true in his discovery. But at that time the price had to be paid for the discovery of science and scientific things. Especially such a discovery of science which proves religion wrong and Bruno had to pay the same price. The church prosecuted Bruno and he was sentenced to death.
But Bruno got the death penalty in such a way that the date of Bruno’s death got mentioned in the pages of history. Bruno was neither hanged nor poisoned. Rather, Bruno was burnt alive in the square of Rome in front of a huge crowd. Not only this, while burning Bruno alive, the giant bells of the Church of Rome started being played.
Because the screams of Bruno’s burning were drowned by the echo of the bells and did not reach the ears of the people. The reason behind this was that the Church of Rome wanted Bruno’s death to be an example to others that anyone who dared to go against the Church and the Bible would be punished like this. Although the discovery and theory of Bruno was later accepted by the whole world. Uranus, the 7th planet of the solar system, was discovered about 200 years after Bruno’s death.
