Turkey Earthquake Update: Due to the devastating earthquake that occurred on February 6 in Turkey and Syria, around 25 thousand people have lost their lives so far. Rescue operation is going on continuously in both the countries. India has also sent its NDRF team for help. Meanwhile, a 6-year-old girl, who was trapped in the debris for three days, was pulled out alive from the debris. This miraculous rescue was possible because of two special heroes of India. Their names are ‘Romeo’ and ‘Julie’. If these two were not there, then the child could not be traced.
The NDRF team sent by India is doing a great job in Turkiye (Turkey). Romeo and Julie are part of this team. According to India Today’s report, Romeo and Julie involved in the rescue work are none other than two Indian Sniffer Dogs. Both these dogs of Labrador breed are part of the National Disaster Response Force Dog Squad, who saved the life of 6-year-old Nasreen.

Gurminder Singh, the handlers of Romeo and Julie and their crew commander, said that it was Julie who first smelled Nasreen and alerted her handler, reports India Today. After this Romeo was brought inside and he confirmed that the girl buried under the debris was alive. The girl was taken out of the debris alive, airlifted by a military helicopter and taken to the Indian Army’s field hospital in Hatte, Turkey, for treatment. The team says that the girl’s condition is stable and she is recovering.

The Labradors left for Turkey on Tuesday (February 7) with two different NDRF teams. They were deployed under the Operation Dost initiative of the Government of India to provide aid and relief material to the earthquake-ravaged country. Here the NDRF team is helping in pulling people out of the debris and taking the injured to the hospital. NDRF Director General Atul Karwal told that the dog squad is helping the local authorities in Turkey in rescue and relief operations as per the need.
