Now in this sequence, the name of a unit of Google’s parent company Alphabet has also been added. Waymo, the self-driving technology unit of Alphabet Inc., has cut its second round of jobs this year.

According to the Roysters report, 137 employees have been fired in the second round. Along with this, out of the total workforce of this company, 8 percent i.e. 209 employees have been retrenched. Explaining the reason for the reduction, the company said that it has done this layoff to make its business successful and focus on it.

Waymo has also fired many engineers. The job cuts at the company are part of wider layoffs in the auto and tech industry, including at Rivian Automotive Inc, General Motors Co and Meta Platforms Inc.
