Tripura Assembly Election 2023: Voting for the 60-member Tripura assembly was held on February 16. According to the Election Commission, around 88 per cent polling was recorded in the one-phase assembly elections in Tripura. The main contest in Tripura is between the ruling BJP, the Left-Congress alliance and the fledgling TMP (Tipra Motha). The state election results will be declared on Thursday.

Town Bordovali Assembly Seat
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha is trying his luck in the election field from Town Bordovali assembly. Manik Saha has been a former Congress leader. Saha was made CM after the resignation of former state Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb. After the resignation of Biplab Deb, Manik Saha contested the by-election and won. This time Manik Saha is up against Ashish Kumar Saha of Congress and Antara Banerjee of TMC. Ashish Kumar Saha is the MLA from Town Bordovali.
Banmalipur Assembly Seat
Tripura BJP chief Rajeev Bhattacharya is contesting from Banamalipur assembly constituency in this election. Former BJP Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb had won from this seat in the 2018 elections. After the resignation of Biplab Kumar Deb, Rajeev Bhattacharya was made the party chief of Tripura BJP. In this election, Congress has fielded Gopal Chandra Roy against Rajeev Bhattacharya and TMC has fielded Shantanu Saha.
Dhanpur Assembly Seat
Dhanpur assembly seat is considered to be the hottest seat of Tripura, because from 1977 to 2018, CPM has been in continuous possession from here. In the last election, CPM’s Manik Sarkar defeated BJP’s Pratima Bhowmik. Pratima Bhowmik is currently a Union Minister in the Modi government. This time also BJP has made Pratima Bhowmik its candidate from here. At the same time, CPM has made Chanda Kaushik a candidate in place of Manik Sarkar this time. TMC’s Habil Miyan, Tipra Motha’s Amiya Dayal are in the fray from Dhanpur.
Agartala Assembly Seat
Agartala is the capital of Tripura, due to which this assembly seat becomes even more special. This seat is considered a stronghold of the Congress because Sudip Roy Burman is the MLA from here for 6 consecutive terms. This time Congress has made Sudip Roy Burman its candidate from Agartala. BJP has given ticket to Papia Dutta against Burman and apart from these three independents are also in the fray.
