The Atmosphere research program is soliciting proposals for data analysis and modeling of NASA supported airborne campaign data. NASA’s Earth Science Division has supported numerous airborne campaigns during the last few years, see Section 2 of the program element text.
NASA seeks proposals for the analysis and/or modeling of the data produced as part of these airborne campaigns. The use of NASA sponsored airborne data is required. Preference will be given to proposals that also use satellite remote sensing data and include multiple field investigations holistically to answer larger scientific questions. The use of data from other sources (e.g., surface-based data, data from non-NASA airborne campaigns) is encouraged. While the subject area for proposals is unrestricted, proposals must address one or more of the Atmosphere’s related science questions listed in Section 1. Preference will also be given to proposals that address the stated scientific objectives of the airborne campaigns.
Proposers must select one of the below sub-elements when submitting their proposal:
Sub-Element 1: Aerosols, Clouds, and Radiative Forcing
Sub-Element 2: Tropospheric Composition and Dynamics
Sub-Element 3: Upper Tropospheric and Stratospheric Composition and Dynamics
Sub-Element 4: Atmospheric Physics: Planetary Boundary Layer Processes
Sub-Element 5: Cross-cutting Research: Across Atmosphere Sub-Elements or Across ESSRP Spheres.
ROSES-2025 Amendment 63 releases A.14 Atmosphere as a new opportunity in ROSES-25. Mandatory Notices of Intent are due by August 20, 2026, and proposals are due October 20, 2026. Proposals submitted to this program will be evaluated using dual anonymous peer review.
