Bill Gates on India: Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft and co-chairman of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, has termed India as the hope of the future. He said in his blog “Gates Notes” that India gives hope for the future and proves that the country can solve big problems together, even though the world is facing many crises today.

Bill Gates said that he believes that with the right innovation and delivery channels, the world is capable of solving many big problems at once, even at a time when the world is facing many crises . However there is not enough time or money to solve both at the same time. But India proved this concept wrong.
‘India capable of tackling big challenges’
Gates said in his blog, “There is no better proof of that than the remarkable progress India has made. India as a whole gives me hope for the future. It is about to become the most populous country in the world, which means is that you can’t solve most of the problems there without solving them on a large scale. Yet, India has proved that it can tackle big challenges.”
‘Better Approach to Innovation’
Gates said that India has eradicated polio, reduced HIV transmission, reduced poverty, succeeded in reducing the child death rate, increased access to sanitation and financial services. India has developed a world-leading approach to innovation, ensuring solutions reach the people who need them.
Mention of development in agriculture as well
Talking about its funding at the Pusa-based Indian Agricultural Research Institute or IARI, Gates said, “The Gates Foundation joins hands with India’s public sector and CGIAR institutions to support the research of researchers at IARI. He found a new solution – chickpea varieties that have a 10 per cent higher yield and are more drought-resistant. One variety is already available to farmers, and several others are currently under development at the institute. India today is better prepared to feed its people and support its farmers.
