Meghalaya Election Result: National People’s Party (NPP) chief Konrad K. Sangma met Meghalaya Governor Fagu Chauhan on Friday (February 3) and staked claim to form the government in the state. After this Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent a message to Konrad Sangma. He said that your father PA Sangma would be proud of you.

What did Konrad Sangma say?
Sangma, the outgoing chief minister of the state, claimed that he has a clear majority in the 60-member assembly with the support of over 32 MLAs. Although he refused to give any information about the allies, Sangma said before going to Raj Bhavan that BJP has already given support, some other party is also with us.

What did BJP claim?
Speaking to news agency PTI, state BJP president Ernest Mowry claimed that the NPP has the support of 34 MLAs, including those from the Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP), People’s Democratic Front (PDF), independents and the BJP. .
Asked whether the NPP would seek the support of any other party, Mowry said it was unlikely as the necessary support to form the government has been secured. Mowry also claimed that the new government would take oath on March 7 and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi Will be present in the program.

What has been the result?
In Meghalaya, voting was held on 59 assembly seats on February 27. The election results were announced on Thursday, in which the NPP emerged as the single largest party by winning 26 seats. NPP’s ally United Democratic Party (UDP) has won 11 seats. The Congress and the Trinamool Congress led by Mamata Banerjee have won five each, while the BJP has won two seats.
Newly formed party Voice of the People’s Party (VPP) won four seats, HSPDP and PDF two each, while two independent candidates also won.
