Displaced people have been given shelter in the schools and churches of São Sebastião. About 7.5 tonnes of relief material has been distributed among the victims. Apart from food-water, hygienic kit is also included in this. However, anti-social elements are obstructing the relief work. Miscreants are looting trucks full of relief material, due to which there are problems in providing help to the victims.
President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva visited the disaster area on Monday. He promised to provide all possible help to the victims. Also, the President urged residents not to rebuild in high-risk areas.
