Karnataka BJP MLA Remark: Before the assembly elections, the controversy regarding Tipu Sultan continues in Karnataka. Now a BJP MLA has created a ruckus by giving a statement related to Tipu. Addressing a rally in Vijayapura, BJP MLA Basangouda Patil Yatnal compared Muslims to 18th century Mysore ruler Tipu Sultan and asked people not to vote for a Muslim leader.
BJP has already been accusing Tipu Sultan of forcibly converting thousands of people. Even when the previous Siddaramaiah government had celebrated Tipu Sultan’s birth anniversary, the BJP had raised many questions about it. This time Yatnal said that all the MLAs ask him, there are one lakh Tipu Sultan (Muslim votes) in your constituency, then how did the descendants of Shivaji Maharaj win from Bijapur. He said that no follower of Tipu Sultan would win here. Even by mistake you should not cast your vote for Muslims.
BJP President Nalin also gave a similar statement
Karnataka BJP President Nalin Kumar Kateel had also given a similar statement regarding Tipu Sultan. He had said that the ardent followers of Tipu Sultan should not remain alive. Not only this, he said that the descendants of Tipu Sultan should be sent to the jungles. Kateel had said on February 15 from Yellaburga in Koppal district, “We are devotees of Lord Rama and Lord Hanuman. We pray to Lord Hanuman. We are not Tipu’s descendants, let’s send Tipu’s descendants back home.
