New technique to fight cancer, hospital discovered ‘New Proton Radiation Therapy’

New Proton Radiation Therapy: Cancer is considered a very fatal disease, every year many people die due to this deadly disease. Meanwhile, a new technique “New Proton Radiation Therapy” has been started at Apollo Cancer Center in Chennai to fight this disease. It is claimed that this therapy has more and better effects on cancer patients.

Dr. Srinivasa Chilukuri, radiation oncologist, Apollo Proteus Cancer Center, Chennai, told ABP News that ‘proton beam therapy’ is the most sophisticated form of radiation therapy currently available in the world. At Apollo Proton Cancer Center we have the latest PBS technology, which enables us to deliver highly concentrated protons region-by-region and layer-by-layer. Under this, the entire tumor can be covered and the surrounding healthy tissue gets a low dose of radiation or no dose at all.

Tumor treatment without tissue damage

Dr. Srinivas said, in such cases, where the tumor is in a risky place, such as in the base of the skull or in the lung, a beam of protons is released to destroy the tumor with proton therapy. During this, radiation can be better targeted according to the size and type of tumor without harming the surrounding healthy tissue. It has proved successful in curing or controlling many cancers when used appropriately.

Therapy can be a game changer

Proton therapy reduces the immediate and long-term side effects of treatment in many patients, which can not only save lives, but also improve later life. This therapy is available only in this hospital in Chennai in India. At the same time, the doctor told that this therapy can be a game changer.

fully recovered patient

The doctor had treated a patient named Jemin Mansukhbhai with this therapy. Jimin was suffering from brain tumor. Jimin told that he is only 25 years old and when he was diagnosed with the tumour, his symptoms were the same for three months with complaints of weakness in the right arm. After this he was treated at APCC. His MR imaging revealed a lobulated expansile lesion with minimal peri-lesional edema at the cervico-medullary junction and a brain tumor called astrocytoma.

Jimin told that when he came to know that it can be treated at Apollo Hospital, then he started getting his treatment done there. Today Jimin is absolutely better and the tumor has gone from his body.
