Delhi and Haryana: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is continuously running an aggressive campaign to eliminate the terrorist-gangster-drug smuggler network. Acting on Saturday, the NIA attached one property in Delhi along with four properties belonging to members of an organized crime syndicate in Haryana.
The NIA took action in February 2023 at 76 locations involving gangsters and their associates in Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Delhi/NCR. In view of this, NIA has attached five properties in Delhi and Haryana.
Case filed in August 2022
Explain that in August 2022, the NIA had registered cases against 3 major organized crime syndicates under the UAPA law. These syndicates had spread criminal networks in many states of North India and were involved in many major crimes. It has also come to light that these syndicates have been involved in the murder of popular Punjabi singer Sidhu Musewala, large scale extortion from businessmen and professionals. The syndicate has been involved in the murder of Sanjay Biyani, a builder in Maharashtra, and Sandeep Nangal Ambia, an international kabaddi organizer in Punjab.

The properties attached by the NIA include Asif Khan’s house in Delhi, Surendra Singh alias Cheeku’s house at three different places in Haryana’s Mahendergarh district and agricultural land. Asif Khan, a resident of the capital Delhi, is an arms supplier along with providing safe haven to gangsters. He is accused of supplying arms to gangsters. NIA arrested Asif in October 2022. NIA action was taken in New Usmanpur area, where Asif’s house is.
Surendra alias Cheeku is a close associate of notorious mafia leaders Naresh Sethi, Anil Chippi and Raju Basodi, who were earlier arrested by the NIA. Surendra Cheeku has been involved in several criminal cases of murder, kidnapping and extortion. NIA will further intensify the campaign against such networks of terror and mafias in the coming days.
