CM Oath Ceremony: The process of government formation has started in Meghalaya, Nagaland and Tripura. Oath taking will take place in Meghalaya on March 7 at 11 am. Whereas in Nagaland, the swearing-in ceremony will be held on March 7 at 1:45 pm and in Tripura on March 8 at 11 am. Prime Minister Narendra Modi (PM Modi) will attend the swearing-in ceremony of the Chief Ministers of all the three states. The results of the assembly elections were declared in all the three states on Thursday (March 2).
After winning the assembly elections in these three states, BJP is going to form the government with its allies. National People’s Party (NPP) chief in Meghalaya, Konrad K. Sangma can take oath as Chief Minister. In Tripura, Manik Saha will once again take oath as the CM and in Nagaland, NDPP supremo Neiphiu Rio is set to take office as the Chief Minister for the fifth term.
BJP extends support to Conrad Sangma in Meghalaya
Conrad Sangma met Meghalaya Governor Fagu Chauhan on Friday and presented the letter of support of 32 MLAs to stake claim to form the government in the state. Sangma had said that he has the support of BJP, HSPDP and two independent MLAs. He said that the new government will take oath on March 7 and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given his consent to be present in the programme.
In Meghalaya, voting was held on 59 assembly seats on February 27. The election results were announced on Thursday, in which the NPP emerged as the single largest party by winning 26 seats. UDP won 11 seats while Congress and TMC won five each and BJP two.
BJP government again in Tripura
In the Tripura assembly elections, BJP has won 32 out of total 60 seats while its ally IPFT has won one seat. Chief Minister Manik Saha had handed over the resignation of his government to Governor Satyadev Narayan Arya on Friday. He said that the new government will take oath on March 8 and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the function.
NDPP-BJP win in Nagaland
NDPP-BJP won 37 seats in the results of the 60-member assembly elections in Nagaland. Out of which NDPP got 25 and BJP got 12 seats. Nationalist Congress Party won seven seats, NPF five and Naga People’s Front, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) and RPI (Athawale) two seats each. The Janata Dal (United) has won one seat, while four independents have won.
