‘Only 20 to 22 seats will be able to win, you have seen that..’, Siddaramaiah claims about JDS being the alliance partner

Karnataka Election 2023: Senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah asked people not to trust the Janata Dal (Secular) and claimed that the regional party could win only a maximum of 20-22 seats in the 224-member assembly.

Mandya district, dominated by the Vokkaliga community, is a stronghold of the JDS. Describing the BJP government as ‘communal, corrupt and anti-people’, former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has asked the people to oust it from power and give Congress an opportunity to come to power in Karnataka. Assembly elections are to be held in the state by May.

‘Don’t do it this time’
Siddaramaiah said at Congress’s Praja Dhvani Yatra, “Last time (in Mandya district), you (voters) did not give us a single seat out of seven seats. JDS had won all these seven seats, don’t do it this time. “He said,” I am saying this after understanding the pulse of the people. Congress coming to power is as true as the sun rising in the east. When we will form the government, then you will also have a stake. That’s why send at least five-six MLAs. We will be with the farmers of Mandya and will work for you.

‘JDS will not come to power’
Of the seven assembly seats in Mandya district, six are currently held by the JDS and one by the BJP. Congress Legislature Party leader Siddaramaiah said, “Please trust us and vote for us.” Don’t trust JDS and BJP. There is a fight between Congress and JDS in Mandya.” He said that this regional party will not come to power under any circumstances.

What did you claim?
Siddaramaiah claimed, “JDS has repeatedly reiterated its target of 123 seats. If JDS manages to win 20-22 seats, this time it will be maximum. Will you bring them to power, will they come to power.”

‘BJP and JDS are getting nervous’
Siddaramaiah said, “BJP and JDS are scared of our promises made to the people and are afraid of defeat in elections as Congress has promised free 10 kg rice per month to below poverty line families .”

What promises did you make?
Siddaramaiah also promised Griha Jyoti Yojana, under which every household would get 200 units of electricity free of cost every month. He also promised to give Rs 2,000 to every housewife if the Congress comes to power in the state. Recalling his party’s role in making HD Deve Gowda the Prime Minister and Kumaraswamy the Chief Minister, DK Shivakumar said, “You have seen what happened when we gave them power.” Government was formed in Karnataka.
