In Maharashtra too, Sharmila Oswal, a resident of Kenad village near Alibaug, has been contributing innovatively in the production of millet for the last 20 years. She teaches smart farming techniques to the farmers. Due to their efforts, not only the yield of millet, but also the income of the farmers has increased.

Increasing income from military entrepreneurship
Odisha Millet Mission has made the state a millet hub. In Mann Ki Baat, PM Modi also praised the women entrepreneurs associated with this mission. He told that Milletpreneurs of Orissa are in a lot of headlines these days. Self-help group of about 1500 women of Sundergarh tribal district of Orissa is associated with the Orissa Millet Mission. These women are also making cookies, rasgulla, gulab jamun, and cake from millet. The demand for these products made from millet is increasing in the market, due to which women are also earning well.

In this episode, under the supervision of the Indian Institute of Millets Research in Kalburgi, Karnataka, Aaland Bhutai Millet FPO had started the work of making Khakhra, Biscuits and Laddoos etc., which you people are very much liking. On the other hand, in Bidar district, women associated with the Hulsoor Millet Production Company are preparing flour along with Millet Cultivation, due to which their income has also increased.

Sandeep Sharma of Chhattisgarh has also set an example, who does natural farming. Today Sandeep Sharma has included farmers from 12 states in his Farmer Producer Organisation, which is making flour and dishes from 8 types of coarse grains.

Millet food being served at G-20 summit
G-20 summit events are going on at many places in India, where nutritious and delicious dishes made of millet are being served. These include millet-khichdi, poha, kheer and roti etc. Health drinks, cereals and noodles made from millet were also displayed in many exhibitions of G-20.
