India-China Meeting: India and China held a meeting in Beijing on Wednesday (February 22) amid ongoing tension on the border. The 26th meeting of the Consultation and Coordination System (WMCC) was held on the border matters of the two countries. It was decided that a meeting of the 18th Senior Commanders would be called soon.
This is the first face-to-face meeting after July 14, 2019. The Joint Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs led the Indian side in the meeting. On the other hand, the Director General of Border and Maritime Affairs did on behalf of China. Chinese Foreign Ministry officials were present in it.
What happened in the meeting?
Both countries discussed the current situation on LAC in the meeting. During this, India and China talked about the proposal of withdrawal of troops from the disputed area of LAC. The purpose of the meeting was the restoration of peace. In the meeting, talks were also held to create normalcy in bilateral relations between India and China.
What is WMCC?
The WMCC was established in 2012 to discuss border matters. After the year 2019, there was a clash in Galvan of East Ladakh and Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh. For this reason, this meeting is being considered very important.
Let us inform that there was a clash between the armies of India and China in Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh in December last year. Regarding this, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh had said that the Indian Army has given the answer. He had said on January 3 that our army is ready for any challenge.
