Kangaroo women’s team defeated India by 5 runs in this exciting match held in Cape Town. After the defeat in the semi-finals, India’s journey in the Women’s T20 World came to an end. Team India captain Harmanpreet Kaur looked very disappointed after the match. He said, the match was in our grip. In such a situation, we were not expecting to lose. We were not expecting to lose the match from here. Can’t be more unfortunate than the way I got run out. It was important for us to try and we went till the last ball in the match. We wanted to fight till the last ball. We wanted to chase the target. When Australia won the toss and elected to bat, it was good for us. We lost 2 quick wickets in the beginning but we knew that we have a strong batting line up.
Harmanpreet Kaur further said, ‘We should give credit to Jemima because of which we got momentum. Glad to see some good performance. We played some good cricket. Today was something where we wanted to play our natural game. We were able to do something similar. However, there were shortcomings in the fielding. We missed some easy catches.
Team India’s journey in the World Cup
Team India’s journey in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup was spectacular. In the group matches, the Indian team performed well and won 3 out of 4 matches. During this, India had to face defeat only against England. Team India defeated the women’s teams of Pakistan, West Indies and Ireland in their World Cup campaign. At the same time, India had to face defeat against Australia in the group matches and England in the semi-finals.
