According to Turkish officials, about two million people made homeless by the earthquake are being kept in tents, container houses and other facilities. At the same time, there are many such suffering people who are yearning for a proper roof.
People are homeless since 19 days
In a conversation with India Today, Alsved, a nursing student at Sirte University in southeast Turkey, told that our houses have been heavily damaged, so we have taken shelter here in a garden in our neighborhood. Describing his pain, the young man said that the biggest problem is the tent. It’s been 19 days and we haven’t received a single tent yet. We had also applied to go to the tent camp, but they said that the nearby camps are full.
25-year-old Alsved told that his house has been turned into rubble due to the earthquake. Couldn’t find any place to stay. Let us tell you that Alsved is among the 60 Syrians who are living in 11 shelters made of plastic sheets, blankets, bricks and pieces of concrete from damaged buildings along the road to Rayhanli city.
The victims are not getting roof
The victim youth has told that he appeals to the authorities for help every day, but he is disappointed like everyday. Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AAFD) said that more than 335,000 tents have been set up in the earthquake zone in Turkey and container home settlements are being set up at 130 locations. About 530,000 people have also been evacuated from the earthquake zone.
