Earthquake in Iran: The land of Iran trembled on Saturday (January 28) night due to the intensity of the earthquake. Strong tremors of earthquake have been felt in Khoy city of northwestern Iran. According to Iran’s media, 7 people have died in the earthquake so far, while 440 people are said to be injured.
The intensity of the earthquake has been measured at 5.9 on the Richter scale. Mojtaba Khaledi, a spokesman for the emergency services in Iran, gave information about the dead and injured in the earthquake to state television.

According to the Iranian news agency IRNA, the tremors were strong and were felt in many parts of Iran’s West Azerbaijan province. Iranian media reported that a 5.9-magnitude earthquake struck northwestern Iran’s Azerbaijan province near the Turkish border on Saturday, killing at least 7 people and injuring 440. Many houses have suffered more damage. According to the report, the sound of a loud explosion was also heard in the military plant of Iran’s city of Isfahan.
Relief and rescue work going on
Iranian emergency officials said rescue teams have been dispatched to the area in Iran’s West Azerbaijan province. At present, the work of relief and rescue is going on. All the people injured due to the earthquake have been admitted to the hospital. An emergency service official told state TV that it was snowing in some of the affected areas. There is also information about power cuts in many places.
Cause of earthquake?
According to scientists, the upper surface of the earth is made up of 7 tectonic plates, when these plates move towards each other, they collide and create an earthquake. Major geological fault lines are said to cross Iran, due to which the country has faced several devastating earthquakes in recent years.
