Delhi University Adhoc: Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has written a letter to Delhi University’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Yogesh Singh demanding confirmation of temporary teachers. He has expressed concern over the displacement of about 70 percent adhoc and temporary teachers during the ongoing interviews for assistant professors in various colleges of DU.
Manish Sisodia has stressed the need to include adhoc teachers in permanent recruitment as many of them have been teaching in Delhi University colleges for many years. These teachers also have extensive experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and best meeting their educational needs.
The ongoing interviews of assistant professors are wrong- Sisodia
Manish Sisodia wrote in his letter, “Interviews going on for assistant professors in various colleges of DU are very wrong. Reports say that 70 percent of Delhi University’s adhoc teachers are being displaced. Manish Sisodia said that permanent Adhoc teachers should be confirmed in recruitment. They understand the challenges of DU, have been working there for decades.”
Adhoc teachers should be confirmed- Sisodia
Manish Sisodia said that we believe that adhoc teachers should be confirmed in permanent recruitment. Many of these teachers have been teaching in Delhi University colleges for decades. They better understand the challenges of how to deal with students coming from different parts of the country with diverse linguistic backgrounds and academic experiences in an institution like Delhi University. He wrote that the experience of teaching in the classroom cannot be replaced. Therefore, it is extremely important to continue these teachers in Delhi University.
Government nominee in the governing body of 28 colleges
He further said, the government is the nominee in the governing body of 28 Delhi government colleges and we are responsible for the adhoc and temporary teachers working in them. Ordinance XVIII-4(a) provides for the appointment of teaching staff by the Governing Body. With this, we want to go ahead with the appointment of adhoc and temporary teachers in our 28 colleges. The Temp Ord XIII A (1977-78) will be revived to implement the process of confirmation of adhoc and temporary teachers by the Governing Body of these colleges.
Recently, the Punjab government has confirmed such teachers and employees. Manish Sisodia requested the Vice-Chancellor of DU that the VC should facilitate the confirmation of adhoc and temporary teachers in these colleges. He said that our governing body will extend its full cooperation in this entire process.
