Agriculture department issued advisory to protect against armyworms
At this time, the danger on crops in Uttar Pradesh has emerged in the form of soldier insect. These insects come together and destroy the crops grown in hundreds of hectares in one go. Regarding this, an advisory has been issued by the Uttar Pradesh Agriculture Department regarding the rescue. According to media reports, the Central Integrated Pest Management Center Gorakhpur and the Agriculture Department jointly conducted a survey to see the presence of soldier moth in Gorakhpur, Siddharthnagar, Maharajganj, Basti, Ambedkar Nagar, Kushinagar, Sant Kabir Nagar in eastern Uttar Pradesh. In the survey, larvae of armyworm were found in some districts. The presence of the pest has been considered as an alarming condition for the crops of these districts.

According to experts, the color of soldier moth is light brown with white. Their front wings are somewhat yellow and brown. Yellow colored spots are seen on it. The hind wings are colored brown.

These insects do not separate and lay eggs. Their species lays eggs in groups. They lay about 500 eggs at a time. Caterpillars come out from eggs in 4 to 5 days. As soon as they grow up a little, they start eating the leaves of new plants. They become fully adult in 15 to 20 days.

The caterpillar of this insect is brown in colour. During the day, they hide in the middle of the forts or in the crevices of the ground. In the evening, coming out of the ground or fort, they climb on the plants and start eating the leaves of the plants.
Then what to do for protection?
Insecticide chemical quinol phos 25 percent EC should be prepared in 640 ml or 300 ml of Ticlofon EC in 200 to 400 liters of water per acre. Spray it on the crop. Chlorpyri Phos 20 percent EC at the rate of 2.5 liters per hectare can be used along with irrigation or in spray.
