India Pakistan Partition: Don’t know how many lives were separated from each other by the partition of India and Pakistan in the year 1947. Many times people who were separated after years kept meeting and reliving their old memories. One such case has again come to the fore in which two brothers who were separated after partition were reunited after 75 years.
According to the news agency PTI, when these two brothers met each other, they sang songs and flowers were also showered. However, social media brought these two brothers together. The names of these two brothers are Gurdev Singh and Daya Singh. He belongs to the Sikh community. When the families along with these two brothers met at Kartarpur Sahib after 75 years, the atmosphere also turned emotional.
Both brothers are residents of Haryana
Gurdev Singh and Daya Singh lived in Gomla village of Mahendragarh district of Haryana before partition. After the death of their father, both of them lived in the house of father’s friend Karim Bakhsh. Among these two brothers, Gurdev Singh is elder and Daya Singh is younger. At the time of partition, Gurdev Singh went to Pakistan and Daya Singh remained in India with his maternal uncle.
After reaching Pakistan, Gurdev Singh shifted to Jhang district of Punjab province, about 200 km from Lahore. After reaching there, he got a new identity by the name of Ghulam Mohammad. Last year, the two separated brothers met each other again at the Kartarpur Corridor.
What did Gurdev Singh’s son say?
After going to Pakistan, Gurdev Singh became Ghulam Mohammad and his son was named Mohammad Sharif. Gurdev’s son Sharif says that for many years his father wrote letters to the Government of India and appealed to find Bhai Daya Singh. 6 months back we were able to find our uncle Daya Singh through social media. After this both the families decided to meet at Kartarpur Sahib.
