Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbag Singh: Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh has reprimanded Pakistan for allowing terrorists to cross the Line of Control (LoC). He said on Saturday (June 17) that continuous infiltration attempts are being made along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir to ‘keep terrorism alive’.
The DGP said militancy was dying out in Jammu and Kashmir, but after attempts in Rajouri-Poonch areas, some terrorists managed to infiltrate, targeting civilians and security forces.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of Jashn-e-Dal event in Srinagar, DGP Singh said that for the first time after a long gap, people of Jammu and Kashmir are enjoying the benefits of peace as children are going to school, business activities without any hindrance are running and a large number of tourists are reaching.

He said that six infiltration attempts were foiled recently and five terrorists were killed yesterday (June 16) along the LoC in Jamgund area of Kupwara district, from whom a large cache of arms and ammunition was recovered.
According to KNO, the DGP said, “Just yesterday, another attempt was foiled in Poonch sector where a group of terrorists were pushed back and were not allowed to enter this side.”
Are the continuous infiltration attempts a violation of the ceasefire agreement?
Asked whether the frequent infiltration bids were a violation of the existing ceasefire agreement, the Jammu and Kashmir police chief said the agreement was being followed in spirit by both sides, but “to keep the pot hot, the militants are being called out”. There are some efforts to push in this direction.
In response to a question about the arrangements for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, the DGP said that all security arrangements are being made to ensure smooth and peaceful pilgrimage. “We will ensure that every pilgrim goes back with good memories,” he said.
People have rejected violence- DGP
The DGP said that the great thing is that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have rejected violence and are living a peaceful life. On the issue of narcotics and youth drug addiction, he advocated a social initiative of civil society apart from the efforts of the police to curb this menace.
Earlier addressing the gathering, he said that Jashn-e-Dal is an opportunity to showcase the hospitality of Kashmir. Police along with J&K Water Sports Authority organized the program to inculcate sports culture among young children to fight the growing menace of drugs in J&K. About 600 children interested in water sports are participating in this programme. We want to provide them a platform at national and international level.
